Probably the wrong place to post, but here goes. When I go to you-tube and select a film to view all I get is the flash logo and number 9 on it. Where can I get the flash software to view films

Try updating the firmware on the device. Also the video framerate is around 30 ffs and this will alter the sync of a ripped dvd or whatever when played back on the device. Try a program that allows you to manually set the frame rate of the converted video then you should be able to atleast improve the out come of the video/audio balance! k.k.

I believe you can just download it from archos.com but at the top of the firmware download page you shall see a bar stating which country you are in. select japan or korea and download the same firmware you already use. REMEMBER THIS THOUGH: When it reboots it will be in another language. So before you do this remember the keys to alter the language from jap to eng. If you cant do this then download the language pack with the firmware and it will all be solved. You caqn get the language pack from archos.com.

Sometimes my player gets hot. I find it gets hotter the more the hard drive is in use. so when i watch films it gets hotter. Or if i run it off my pc. They are pretty powerful little things when you think about it so i guess they will get hot from time to time.
Even though your battery display says its fully charged and if you leave it plugged in to the mains then the main power still runs through the battery. Which is harmless to the battery.
My advice is to seek a specialist. Or return it to the store you got it from and ask for the battery to be replaced. These things can be a number of many reasons. But if draining, recharging or letting it charge for hours hasnt worked then return it. atleast this way you can get another battery and see how long that lasts and this will tell you if its you or the battery. (not saying youre doing anything wrong!) Kasper

Well i have recently installed something called gmini sms, which was origionally created for the archos 400, given the same spec as the 402 (402 is a little more advanced) i thought it would work.

WHAT IS IT?: It's pretty much what i have been looking for, a simulator for rom games mainly Sega Master System.

I tried it with a cracked and modified version of Doom.

RESULT: nothing. its asif the player tries to read the games but freezes or crashes. I will continue to play around with it and attempt to mould the simulator to the 402 stat. I'll be sure to post if it works!

Music and Video player I think is the most popular.Obviously because it is the target market of the product.Dont get me wrong,I really love the resolution of Archos product.I will personally recommend it to some people who are still using other competitors similar product.

I would like to comment also about ARCHOS Gmini 500.Im pretty much pleased because I can easily connect, copy, share and transfer my files into other powered mass storage devices i.e. card reader, digital cameras powered portable devices and usb keys.In transfering to my PC is very easy also.Not other devices that im having troubled installing their driver.

I think you need to read this one John.

Archos' limited warranty covers only those defects which arise as a result of normal use of the product, and do not apply to any:

1. improper or inadequate maintenance or modification;
2. software, interfacing, media, parts, or supplies not provided or supported by Archos; or
3. operation outside the product's specifications.
