hi, i,m a newbie to this forum. looking 4 advice re the dvr docking station.got it from amazon £50.had trouble gettin my pc to recognize the player thru the docker, yet it was ok direct to pc with origonal usb cable.after trying several usb cables from the docker, i got it to work and can load data. i,ve tried several times to play av out from the docker but cannot get anything out, i,ve just tried direct to a tv and still nothing, not even audio output, i,ve tried composite and s-video.other than putting the internal spkr off i cant find any settings for output.i,m goin 2 try the component out next but dont expect any joy. is my docking station kaputt. will just mention the grief i had after buying the mpeg decoder online, 1st what a rip off, not being compatable with the most common video format.i received the download link from archos, did the recommended firmware update 1st, then everytime i tried the plug in update it failed. archos customer service was rubbish, taking days to reply then sending the same link that didnt work. after 10 emails and 3 weeks i got a link that worked. any advice on docker will be appreciated. regards gadget61

I bought Archos 605 WiFi - from amazon.com in july. when i am trying to register it says the product is already registered. I am not able to find the contact for support (e-mail ID). Can some one help. i am not able to record the video with out registration.

Therefore how can I sync movies onto my Archos AV500? If anybody can help me out it'd be very much appreciated.

I use ABC 3GP CONVERTER. Free fast and easy. Along with pocket Divx. But for my archos i have the cinema plug in so i just rip dvd's straight to it. Easy. Better than the iphone for films.

Try going to the Archos website to see if any drivers are available for the device. Update all of them (Uninstall first if needed) and the re-install. Does it come up under com ports?

Recently I upgraded my PC and am now using Vista. Whenever I connect my 504 as hard drive to transfer dvds Vista will not recognise the 504.

Has anyone else had this problem?

daft question from the inexperienced, when recording dvd's from the tv how does the archos no the dvd has finished or do you have to be watching to stop the recording?

Hi Steve I've just registered on here as I have exactly the same problem.
Mine was from new and has never caused me any problems in over a year, I'm gutted. I get a green light for the on button then a quick flash for the HDD then it goes to black screen again. Checked batteries with my sons machine and they are fine.

Topics on Archos web site don't help me. Please please can anyone help? Have so much on it.

I have an AV 700 that I really stressed for over two years of about 8/10 hours daily recording. This is an execellent product I have to say, though one of its main weaknesses is in my opinion the hard disk.

I first bought one and its hard disk broke after one month of use (initially less intensive than the next two years), sent it back to Archos they repaired it/replaced it, sent it back to me, after two days it broke again, I required Archos to replace it with a new one at no charge, which they did. I used it intensely for two years, with just a few problems (sometimes recordings did not start, recorded files were not readable, some lock that required taking the battery away etc) but eventually I was very happy with it.

But yesterday it happen again, it locked, I took the battery away, and when I tried to reboot it I could only read its death sentence: "Can't read from hard drive!".

I wonder if anybody can gove me advice on what I can do. I'm very happy with it, and if I could just replace the hard disk and get it to work again, that would be great. I'm also writing to the official Archos technical support to ask them a quotation for a repair, but because the warranty has expired months ago I do not think it is worth, buying a new model would be probably cheaper. So if I could just spend a few dozen euros for a new 40Gb (or maybe 80) compatible 2.5" HD and replace it on my own, I could solve my problem.

Anybody can help?
